Meet the Founder

Caleb Preston was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD when he was 8 years old. He went through many struggles in his life and went through extensive therapy, IEP’s and medications. His journey was not the easiest, but he learned to overcome those obstacles, However in Spring of 2022 Caleb went through the biggest struggle of his life, Ableism. Caleb had never experience this before and didn’t know how to handle it. In fall of 2022, Caleb had one of the greatest ideas that he had, he wanted to build a club to not only bring awareness to people with disabilities but he also wanted to build a community where everyone belongs. Even though People had told him that his “beliefs are weird” and even was told “what do you want? A cookie?” However, Caleb never let that bring him down, he continued to build the club and the community in it. By the time he graduated his club raised about $1500 dollars and still continues to help the club to this day. Caleb believes that everyone should be treated equally especially for people with disabilities.

Our goal right now?

Our goal right now is we want to spread the club organization to other high schools and colleges to teach the importance of equality for people with disabilities

Why does this matter?

The reason why this matters because for centuries ableism has been in our country for example it has been reported in our schools, in our work environments and even on social media. If we do not correct behavior now, ableism will continue to exist and it will affect those people with disabilities. For example, the suicidal rate for a person with autism is 1 out of 4 times greater due to lack of support, abuse etc. That is why we take strong initiative to make sure everyone is included during our meetings so they can feel welcomed and supported.
